The foliage is&nbsp;a Heliconia&nbsp; which I planted this season and will flower next summer fingers crossed. This beautiful huge flower is one that I just sat in the foliage to take the photo. Russell Fransham gave it to me last night. Heliconia bourgaeana&nbsp;It is stunning. It is part of the under planting of a job that was a design build project that we completed in December 2013. So the plants have only been in three months. The growth has been fantastic. What a difference good ground preparation and irrigation can make.    The paved area was designed as a giant chess set. Just waiting for the client to buy the chess pieces. I thought the one on the left was going to touch the house, but not quite. They are starting to brown off so the plants will only be a distant memory by the beginning of winter. I took this photo last week at a clients 100% edible garden that I designed and we planted earlier this year. While putting in the staple crops I also had a bit of fun with some more exotic fruits and spices. I had a good chomp on the marionberries, boysenberries and blackberries while I was there too.
