What is a consultation ?
Consultations take two forms
If you are an experienced gardener or you are used to dealing with hard landscaping issues you may just need pointing in the right direction or have somebody make some suggestions as to which way you should proceed with a section of your garden or to discuss a problem that you have not been able to overcome by yourself. If this is your scenario a one off consultation may be all that you require or you may be looking for a designer to work through a larger project with you. Consultations of this nature take around one and a half hours and are from your perspective a very important first step. At this first meeting you get the opportunity to meet your potential designer and discuss your vision for your garden and listen to what they have to say. It is very important at this stage that you feel that you would be comfortable and confident working with us. We will be asking lots of questions and will have given you some questions to work through before the meeting. Please give these some serious thought and write down your answers.
Concept Plans are produced as per the brief which is written with and approved by the client to show and represent ideas. To give you an understanding of what your garden could look like. We use Vectorworks a CAD drawing computer program so our concept plans are to scale, in colour and can be plans only, 3 dimensional or a combination of both. Master/Layout Plan is produced once concept drawings have been completed.
These plans show structures in more detail and have construction notes & materials to be used. At this point the plan will be adjusted to incorporate any changes that have been made from the concept plan. Master /Layout plans may also include all or some of the following options:
Measurements & dimensions, approximate square & linear metre sizes. Positioning of conduit runs to future proofing & allow for outdoor lighting, electric gates and exterior power points and taps.
Lighting plan – This plan will show positioning of outdoor light fittings & type of light fitting to be used. A good lighting layout will be functional and add atmosphere and mood to the space.
Extra construction drawings and detail drawings for permits and consents that maybe required by council.
Planting Plan & Plant Schedule - These are working drawings which show layout and quantities of plant material and a schedule for quoting and purchasing purposes.
